Everyone Loves To Get Applause II

Everyone Loves To Get Applause II - Size: 60 x 74 cm, heavy impasto, Schmincke oils on canvas executed "in spectacular fashion", 2017Anton Terziev

The original work from 2002 was courtesy of Ruen Ruenov - art historian and critic, founder of Sofia Underground fest to whom i owe a lot - my Liquidation solo show from 2004 for example would not had happen without him.
After his sudden, unexpected death 14.12.2011 the current owner of Everyone Loves To Get Applause 2 remain unknown. So at year 2017 with a little changes and with a lot of differences I've made a replica of my own forever lost original painting.

Anton Terziev’s “Everyone Loves To Get Applause II” commands attention through its thick impasto surfaces and sardonic nod to Pop Art tropes. The forceful, almost sculptural texture underscores the raw physicality of the central figure—an emblem of celebrity culture's charged energy. By juxtaposing bold text with a straining, muscular persona, Terziev ironically exposes society’s relentless hunger for fame and validation, from fashion icons to political figures. The subdued, dark palette amplifies the painting’s critical stance: it highlights not only the figure’s own desperation for applause but also the spectator’s voracious fascination with heroes and influencers. In this way, Terziev deftly merges satire and critique, reminding us of the precarious line between admiration and blind worship in a world perpetually seeking the next source of viral fame.
